Even if it means really disappearing in your life completely, I'll still do what it takes to fight and defy the fate laid out for us... — Florence Joyce

Just how many last battles were they going to deal with just to grasp the peace that they truly wanted? Was it really hard to even think of?
They weren't meant to fight this much, if other people would think so. However, it seemed that it wasn't something that fate had intended for them to have.
"One more fight... and then... I can finally reach her..." Souji whispered, barely hanging on as he strived to gather what was left of both his energy and his powers while glaring at another approaching group of monster soldiers.
They got her again... Those were the words lingering in his mind for a few days now since he heard the news from the injured Kasumi. Yes, it wasn't just Fuuka who was deliberately taken. Several others were also captured for some reason none of them could explain.
And at that moment, it wasn't just him who was fighting to bring those captured people back.
To bring Fuuka back.
At least, that was his goal. But he didn't anticipate the fighting capabilities of the kidnapper. They never expected its influence on their soldiers currently holding them off and stopping them from rescuing their friends.
It was frustrating, but it only made him determined to fight heads on and save Fuuka. It made him want to see her well and alive again.
But how would he be able to achieve that when he had to deal with so many soldiers and endure the pain coming from his injuries that he sustained along the way? To be honest, he was already tired. He could even feel that he would collapse at any time. And yet, his body would scream "keep going" to his mind. It would serve as a sort of fuel for him.
He doesn't have to stop. He had to be there for her. There was no other way but for him to fulfill that.
Upon reaching another room, Souji halted to a stop, followed by his eyes opening wide at the horrific sight that greeted him.
Fuuka, bloodied while crouching to the ground, glared hard at the lone monster in front of her.
"Fuuka!" he called before he could even stop himself. He was too worried to care, to be honest.
The said young woman only cast a glance at him, eyes opening wide for a short while, before standing up to continue fighting. His presence there didn't deter her. It was a good thing, but he could tell that she wouldn't last long with all the injuries she had at the moment.
Just like he was.
But as he had said, just one more fight, and then he would be able to save her. There was nothing else that was more important to him at the moment he kept on seeing the gravely injured Fuuka.
"Souji-san!"
That scream snapped him out of his reverie and his eyes widened at the sight of an energy ball heading towards him. By reflex, he lifted his hand holding the Gaburicaliber and struck the said attack. It sliced into two and each slice headed past his two sides away from him, hitting the wall. Before he knew it, he rushed towards Fuuka and tried to support her, even when he also needed support himself.
"You're hurt!" Fuuka exclaimed as soon as he stopped beside her.
"This is nothing compared to yours. Did that monster hurt you?"
She shook her head. "It was a different one, but I managed to destroy it somehow. This was a new one, probably taking advantage of the fact that I was really injured during that last fight."
Now that made sense. Souji faced the monster who growled loud all of a sudden, making him and Fuuka cover their ears. Perhaps it didn't like the fact that they were ignoring it.
Even so, they still had to do something to end this fight and get out of there. He still had to fulfill his promise of saving Fuuka. But it looked like their enemy wouldn't want them to have their way. Several more energy balls headed their way before they knew it. And both of them deflected each of it with their own weapons. But to be honest, their enemy was already reaching its limit. It looked like both of them wouldn't be able to last long if this would keep up.
They had to end this — and fast!
"I'm sorry, Fuuka. But I hope you'd still be able to keep going. I promise, I'll get you out of here alive," Souji said, without facing the said girl.
His grip on his weapon tightened as he started poising to a fighting stance.
"Why are you talking as if I'm the only one who has to get out of here alive, Souji-san? It's something we should be doing together, right?"
He couldn't believe what he was hearing, making him face Fuuka who was also in a fighting stance with her Ninja Ichibantou on her hand. But she was right. Both of them should be the one doing that. It wasn't just the work of one person, especially at this point.
Souji couldn't help chuckling. "You're right. Why did I even forget that?"
With that, he and Fuuka took on dealing with the last enemy standing in their way at the moment.
