Both Ryuichi and Miiko felt like they were destined rivals since their elementary days. But unlike that of Rei and Konami, their rivalry was leaning more on their scholastic achievements. There were times that they still rely on each other on some issues that they believed that "two minds are better than just one". There were instances, as well, that Ryuichi was more than willing to risk his life for Miiko's safety. In one of Miiko's battle as a Rainbow Knight, one revelation about their past would force her to choose between duty and her growing love for Ryuichi who would always be there to protect her at the cost of his life.
