Blurb (from Goodreads):
There's a thief at Kirrin Cottage! The Famous Five think they know who it is, but they need to prove it! Where can they find evidence? The discovery of an old map and very unusual hiding place is all they need to get to the bottom of this mystery and uncover the true culprit!
Finally! I got to finish reading this one. August hasn't been good to me in terms of my reading and yes, I haven't finished reading anything last month. So I tried my best this month. Thank goodness, I was able to do just that.
I have a physical copy
of this book, by the way. Surprisingly, I was able to find some more at
Booksale before the pandemic started. So I couldn't help wondering why I
wasn't able to finish reading this last month. Then again, there's no
use dwelling on that. Right now, here I am with the individual book
comment.
So the siblings Julian, Dick and Anne, together with their cousin Georgina (who liked to be called George, by the way, or else!) and her dog Tim are back again for the holidays. Though they wouldn't call it a holiday when they had a tutor to ruin it all for them. Or at least they thought of it that way. And yet, they couldn't do anything about it as they needed to catch up with their lessons and studies. A tutor was hired and yet for some reason, George didn't really have a good feeling about this particular person. So does Tim. She did get into trouble with her father because of this tutor and even involved Tim in it. But the real adventure for the kids lies on the Secret Way that they found at Kirin Farmhouse in which two more suspicious people were present. A map on a linen cloth and stories of secret passageways underneath does gives a sense of thrill for these kids, huh?
Personally, I think George is indeed a difficult person to deal with. No doubt about that. But she really sticks to what she wanted to believe, and her intuition is, I guess, really strong for a kid. She trusted that intuition so much, to the point that she got into trouble. And even Tim was involved in it. But even with that, she decided to stick with it. Turned out she was right about her hunch with regards to their tutor. Things got wild (or at least I'd describe it as wild) here and there.
Seriously, I'm just glad that I got to finish reading something this month. I'm currently reading a different book after that. But perhaps I can add that to my done reading list for this month. Then again, we'll see.
Till the next book comment!
