Lives Beyond Those Eyes 10 - Vision About A Killer

"Not that I'm curious. But I wonder why she can't tell me about it yet."

It was all that Sari could mumble as she walked away from the campus' archeology department building. She didn't press on when Professor Geunhee said that to her when she asked about the possible relation of those drawings and sketches of unearthed artifacts to... something.

She was sure she said that when she asked the question. Something... important. Intriguing. Mysterious.

Then again, only she thought of it like that. They could be something else to the professor. Something simple and could be educational.

'Man, who am I fooling?' Was the female professor trying to uncover an ancient story as those related artifacts kept getting unearthed?

But if so, why would she not tell Sari about it? What was keeping Geunhee from telling her? And maybe she would even let Sari go to some archives room with her if she could have a couple more questions and answers.

"We're here!"

Those words broke her train of thoughts. Sari looked around quickly, seeing that she was already at a crossroad. The street was busy with people heading back home after classes or to wherever they went before this one in which she currently stood in.

"Woah! I must be really thinking too hard for me not to fully realize that I reached this place already before I knew it..." she mumbled and sighed after.

This was not good. She shouldn't be distracted at this point. Yes, she was curious. But she must pay attention to her surroundings, as well.

'As if it's that easy.'

Sari wasn't the only one standing at the crossroad and was just waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Lazily, she looked at the other side of the road to see more people standing there.

Some were chatting while others were just staring at the sidewalk. There were also some who weren't talking anymore but stared into space.

That was when Sari noticed a certain man standing on the other side of the street that made her frown. He looked like he was having a conversation with someone on his phone, although Sari couldn't figure out who. She wasn't close enough either to hear what they were saying. Maybe if she was closer...

Sari shook her head. Why would she bother to get close to that person anyway? It wasn't like he'd want to talk to her, right? Or perhaps...

'Wait... I know why I'm like this right now...'

That gut feeling... The one thing she had besides her ability to see past lives that had saved her --- and a few others --- several times before. Yes, including her friends.

And also... Professor Soohoon.

Sari looked up once more to see the man in question once again. He turned off his cellphone and looked over at her direction. Their gazes met each other, both making eye contact, before the guy looked away without much effort.

Then it happened. 10 seconds after their eyes met, she saw it in her mind...

A man covered in blood, wielding a sword and with a creepy grin on his face as he looked down at two lifeless people --- a man and a woman --- laying on the ground.

"You two shouldn't have existed anywhere at all, you know..."

The man's chilling voice sent shivers down Sari's spine that spoke of danger. And it wasn't just a small one.

"You're all meant to die. You shouldn't have interfered with me at all. You've been such a nuisance all this time..."

Unsatisfied, the man stabbed the two people more simultaneously, covering them with stab wounds all over. More blood flowed, covering the ground and letting it sip in slowly.

"Ah!" Sari clutched her head as soon as that vision was over.

Other people looked at her after nearly exclaiming that out loud.

"Are you okay, Miss?"

She smiled, even if it was forced on her face. As if she could actually tell them the reason why she acted that way.

'What did I just see? A killer from the past?'

However, she had no time to think further as the lights changed then before she realized it, allowing them to pass through the crossing, and started walking towards Sarina's way.

"Hey, are you alright? Does your head hurt, miss?" The same lady from before asked, concern was written on her features, probably noticing the way Sari tried to hide her face behind her hands.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just a little headache. Sorry if I worried you."

But honestly, if her friends found out about this, they'd definitely freak out. Well, maybe not that much.

'I need to get home quick and sort my thoughts out before it all goes haywire in my brain.' She looked up, hoping to have a look at the man in question whom she saw those disturbing visions about. To her disappointment, he was nowhere to be seen.

Sari took a deep breath after that and walked faster, hoping to make it before the light turned green again. Thankfully she did.

And that was how Sari spent most of the rest of her walk home. Thinking deeply over everything and trying to come up with a conclusion, whatever that may be.

When Sari arrived home, she threw herself onto her bed, still lost in thoughts about the terrifying visions and the things it brought to her head.

'It's crazy to actually see something like that.' Then again, it wasn't like she could help it. Those visions assaulted her mind like no other.

It seemed so vivid and clear in her memory. The fact that she could even feel every tiny detail that she felt, not to mention the fear in those people's faces... The pain in those bodies' wounds. How it almost seemed like the people she saw had died instantly...

'Why do they feel so... familiar?'

All of these thoughts were confusing her greatly and Sari felt a sudden pang on her chest, wondering if this was all real. Because if it wasn't, then she knew that it wasn't going to end well.

Sari sat upright, running a hand on her hair and breathing deeply before closing her eyes. She could not afford to be caught unprepared by any bad outcome. She needed to figure out her thoughts and find the truth behind it.

"Maybe there is an explanation that will help me understand," she whispered under her breath before lying back down, hoping that she would get to sleep soon.

She didn't know how she'd be able to find the explanation that needed. But maybe she'd figure it out.

There was a way for her to do that.

"Hey, you're lost in your own thoughts there."

Soohoon looked up from staring into space --- specifically his coffee mug - when he heard that. He then saw his half-sister Geunhee approaching him with a paper bag of food.

"I didn't bother announcing since I thought you were resting. You weren't answering my call outside so I used the spare key to let myself in. I hope you don't mind."

He couldn't help chuckling. "You ramble too much early in the morning, Geunhee."

"And whose fault was it? You seem to be out of it lately that you don't even hear me calling outside. Are you okay?"

Soohoon nodded and stood up to prepare coffee for his sister. "How's Dad, by the way?"

"Still okay, even if he always complains about being stuck in a wheelchair. Other than that, he's still active in guiding Jeongdae with the company."

"Well, I hope Jongdae's taking it easy from time to time. You know how Dad can become a slave driver once he decides on it."

The siblings laughed as Soohoon handed the coffee to Geunhee.

Park Jongdae was their cousin whom they were close to, chosen and trained personally to take over in leading the family business once his father felt that their cousin was ready.

"By the way, both of them kept asking about any updates related to what happened to you and Yoon Sari. Did Detective Seo say anything more about it?"

However, Soohoon shook his head and sighed dejectedly. "They're still in the dark, but they know now that the serial killer causing havoc recently and the rider who hurt Miss Yoon are one and the same. Other than that, there's not much to go on."

"But that's not enough to stop you, right?"

Soohoon nodded and took a sip of what was left of his coffee. It wasn't bad but a bit cold and bitter for his taste. Still, it warmed him up and he preferred it that way. His sister smiled at him and finally took the seat opposite of him.

"I see. They're just worried that you might be getting too involved in that case."

Soohoon's lips formed a thin line. "If it means finding out the truth about the reason why he tried to kill me that day, then I don't mind getting involved. But I'm also worried."

"About Yoon Sari?"

"Yeah. By the way, how is she doing in your care?"

Geunhee couldn't help smiling as she talked. "She's diligent, alright. But I do notice that she seems to be constantly worried about something. And a lot of your sketches caught her attention, for some reason."

Soohoon frowned. "Sketches?"

"Sketches of the artifacts from 400 years ago that you drew when you were a teenager that we later found out to be real items from the past. She appeared to be too interested in them."

"You mean... only those specific sketches that I drew?"

Geunhee nodded that only deepened Soohoon's frown.

'Why would Miss Yoon be interested in them? It's not like she would know anything about the real story behind them.'

Or could it be that... Sari wanted to figure it out? Was she looking for something from those drawings? What could it possibly be? There was nothing else that could be the reason why the girl would want to learn about the past.

"So... Do you know what's bothering Miss Yoon so much about those drawings?" Soohoon wondered.

"That part's still unknown. But she does ask questions if those artifacts were related to something. I haven't told her the truth about the origin of those sketches other than the fact that you drew them."

"That's fine. That doesn't really matter anyway." Or at least that was what he wanted to say, but still couldn't help feeling curious why Sari would have an interest in his sketches.

Soohoon put away his mug and got up from his chair. "Now, I need to head somewhere. See you at home tonight!" He waved off, already headed for his door.

"See you, then!" Geunhee smiled.
