WHAT LIES WAITING
Pairing: Sanada/Sakuno

He saw the paper held down by a small rock. The paper was colored blue and was placed on his desk. Of course, he frowned at that. How could somebody dared to litter in the classroom at this hour? The students had already cleaned the room a while back.
He approached his desk with the intention of throwing away the paper into the trash bin. But that thought had almost immediately crumbled to dust when he saw the affixed signature along with the name written at the back of the paper (which was the side actually facing up).
It was from Sakuno.
Ryuzaki Sakuno…
Damn it… It was just a paper…
A paper that belonged to her.
How could he feel something as if he was frozen solid to his spot upon knowing that?
Because it wasn't just a paper for you…
Great! Now his mind was taunting him because of this again.
After finding himself moving from his original spot (thankfully), he took the paper as he lifted the rock that held it down.
What he didn't expect, however, was the content of that paper. His heart beat faster than how it was a while ago when he saw the signature and the name on the paper.
A heart lies waiting
With a wish that keeps hurting
My mind only thinks
Of no one else but you now
Yet my heart could only wait
Was this for real? Why would Sakuno give something like this to him? Okay, he assumed that it was for him since it was on his desk. But was that supposed to be his right thought at that point?
He had to know the truth.
But then… How was he supposed to do that?
The door suddenly sliding open made him put the paper on his pocket (even if it would be crumpled in there) and dropped the rock he inadvertently knocked over from his desk. Unfortunately, the rock landed somewhere that almost caused him to yelp in pain but he bit his lips not to do so. Whoever it was that surprised him would surely pay dearly.
"I'm sorry. But have you seen a blue paper at the tennis courts with a poem written on it, Sanada-senpai?"
…or maybe not… if it was Sakuno who surprised him like that. He fought down the pain that the rock landing on his foot had caused him. Anyway, it was just a small pain. Nothing serious.
He turned around and faced the person the asked him that. "No. And if I did, I would've given it back to you already." But he realized that he somehow said the wrong word. Oops! With that, he hurried to go out of the classroom without looking back.
Houw could he say something like giving it back to her if she didn't even mention that it was hers to begin with?
Nice going, Genichirou. Now she'll definitely suspect something.
Because of thact action, he didn't manage to see the confused look on Sakuno's face as she watched him walk away to that place. Not to mention, she was slightly blushing, too. She started walking away towards the opposite direction. I guess my secret is safe for now. But what am I supposed to do now? Where could that poem be? I was supposed to hand it over to Sanada-senpai somehow... But maybe he wouldn't accept it… As if he would! It was just a wishful thinking, anyway…
Ah… If only she knew he was already holding it… and seriously, he had no plans of letting it go at all.
But soon after, he asked himself. Who could've placed that poem on his desk if it wasn't Sakuno? The answer, however, was something that he should've realized from the start.
