Release Day Blog Tour: "If The Dress Fits" by Carla De Guzman

Even plus size women deserve their own love story. At least this book told me that. But before I go to that, I owe Ms. Carla an apology for posting this review a bit too late. A lot of things has happened that prevented me from posting this before the release day even though I finished it earlier.Anyway, let’s go back to the discussion.

I like how Martha really love her size and do her best to flaunt it despite people giving snide remarks and side glances because of it. I mean, nothing really stopped her even if she’s that… plump. Hehe! I wasn’t sure if it was the right word, though. Of course, despite the confidence she showed and still tried to show to the world, she still has a lot of insecurities in her that she harbored since she was young. Those insecurities rooted from her supposedly unrequited feelings for Enzo and the bullying of her ever adored cousin Regina.

Anyway, I really liked Martha—the confident Martha who doesn’t give a damn care about her fats even though people keep on commenting about it. But because of that, it also contributed to the truth as to why she didn’t notice the others’ feelings for her. I’m talking about Enzo’s and her best friend Max’s feelings for her. Her insecurities, her typical perception about fat people not getting enough love and doesn’t deserve to have a fairytale-like love life (or at least close to it). In short, she still thought of herself as a wallflower.

This is the first time I’ve read a book written by Ms. Carla that described Max and Martha’s deed (you know what I mean by this) for the first time, crossing the line between friends and lovers. I can’t tell about her other books, though. So far, from her three books (including this) that I’ve read, this is the only one that has that scene described.

And does Ms. Carla has a personal fascination for London? Just thought I’d asked. Anyway, I love Martha’s inner transformation and realization. As for Max, the bookworm vet, I wish I could meet a guy like you someday. I like him loving Martha the way she is, everything about her.
