Baguio On My EXO-Inspired Stories

I'm not really sure why, but I just noticed this while my sisters and I were riding a taxi earlier. I actually wrote a few stories in which I managed to write as I thought of a certain spot here in Baguio, my hometown.

I once wrote a story titled "What This Heartbeat Means" which was an EXO fanfic based on the result I got from an EXO dating game I found on Youtube years ago. I played it for fun and maybe out of curiosity. Anyway, that story is now deleted and I only remembered it again when the taxi that we were riding on took an alternate route going to town to avoid the traffic along Naguillian Road. One of the routes it took was an alley heading to Guisad Valley National High School ― a once familiar path to me as I usually use that route when I was in high school. Only I didn't go to the high school on that route. As soon as I was writing the story before, that was the place that would pop up in my mind, for some weird reason. It would happen like that, even though the area doesn't have any relation to the story at all.

Another one is the Transcendental stories that I had in collaboration with a PHR writer Azel. Well, even when I was reading her version of the stories, my mind would immediately associate it with another particular area in my hometown. Weird, huh? In any case, the area that would pop up in my mind whenever that story/series was involved would be the open parking space along Magsaysay Road, just beside Pilando Building. It's still a parking area, even when the pandemic started. But right now, the jeepneys, cars, and motorcycles allowed to park there were limited in number in observance to the social distancing. From what I know, it was also a parking space for vans traveling outside Baguio, as well. I'm not sure if it still applies today, with the pandemic-related restrictions and all.

In any case, the Transcendental stories were EXO-inspired stories that Azel first came up and posted on her Facebook account around 2017 or 2018. I can't recall the exact year, so I'm going to stalk her FB account once I have the chance. At first, I have to admit, I didn't give the story a chance. But since she used EXO as visuals (even the names so I guess it would amount to a fanfiction, I guess) when she wrote that story, and also because it's a fantasy, I decided to read it. And immediately, as I've mentioned, that place along Magsaysay Road appeared in my mind. It's really weird. I don't know what's with that place for me to be able to think about it, regardless of its lack actual relation to the story itself. But yes, it happened that way. And at one point, I was thinking that maybe I got crazy. I'm not sure. My mind's pretty much scattered at the moment. Maybe that's one reason why I couldn't finish writing any story at all.

Anyway, I guess I got sidetracked. Sorry about that. It still felt weird for me to read a story (or write one, even) and my mind would suddenly think of a certain place. And right here in my hometown, even though those places don't even have a connection whatsoever to those stories. That doesn't happen often, really. And now that I've noticed, it happened when I was trying to write stories with EXO as visuals. That's still another weird thing connected to this, huh?

Okay. I think I've written a long entry... or at least long enough for me. Then again, I'm just glad I've got to post something here that related to what I've written and what I've been writing.

Till the next writing-related entry!
